Lakers News: Watch Jarred Vanderbilt Demolish Dallas Mavericks
Your Los Angeles Lakers pulled off the comeback of the century against the Dallas Mavericks yesterday. Down 27 points in the second quarter, LA made a strong surge in the second off and won a much-needed game in regulation, 111-108.
The comeback was initiated by the Lakers newest acquisition, power forward Jarred Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt was EVERYWHERE, and I mean everywhere, in yesterday's match-up. Take a look at how he was able to kick off the biggest comeback in the NBA this season.
In the process of kicking their ass, as Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd put it best, Vanderbilt also enjoyed his best game as a Laker.
Vanderbilt scored 15 points, grabbed a game-high 17 boards, and four steals in the process. His performance was something to behold.
The Lakers were not only missing every three-pointer they put up, but their lack of tenacious defense was also visible. They weren't doing the little things on defense that ultimately put them in a huge deficit.
That is until Vanderbilt emerged in the second half, creating a spark for the purple and gold.
Lakers star Anthony Davis said postgame that the 23-year-old started it all off in the third quarter.
"Vando started it off with his ball pressure on Luka, got some steals, and turned us up defensively, and we were able to come back and get a good win for our team."
"His activity. You could put him 1-5 defensively. He knows how to play, offensive rebounds as well, he compliments us well."
In Vanderbilt, the Lakers finally have a long forward who can guard opponents at a high level and be versatile on defense. Way better than what LA had before with a small guard (no hate, just facts).
