What Dwyane Wade Learned From 2 Laker Greats During Their Tenure As His Teammates
During the most recent induction of newest Hall of Famers into the exclusive Naismith Basketball family, none other than Dwyane Wade punched his name into the history books. Nicknamed The Flash, Wade was able to fly past opponents for 16 seasons en route to three NBA championships, 13 All-Star selections, multiple All-NBA inclusions and so much more.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James famously teamed up with Wade back in 2011 and the two formed one of the most exciting and athletic duos that we've ever seen in the history of the game. Even though Wade left Miami for a bit to team up with James again on the Cleveland Cavaliers and also to suit up for his hometown Chicago Bulls, he is widely recognized as the greatest member of the Heat ever.
Along with the likes of Pau Gasol, Tony Parker and other notable basketball figures, Wade was given the opportunity to give a speech during his Hall of Fame induction and he made sure to shout out many of his teammates for everything he learned from them throughout his career.
He specifically pointed out what The King and Shaquille O'Neal taught him during their tenures together.
"I also played with people who protected me and gave me a bigger sense of purpose," said Wade. "Shaq, Chris, LeBron and UD. They changed the way I would be viewed in this game forever. With Shaq, I learned how to be Robin to his Batman and then become Batman."(Via NBA Twitter)
O'Neal ended up in Miami after his final season with the purple and gold in 2004 and then went on to team up with Wade to win the 2006 NBA championship.
We may never see a player who matches skillset with leadership quite the way Wade was able to but we sure are happy to know that some of our favorite Lakers had the chance to play with and against him!
