Lakers News: What Los Angeles Rival Appreciates About LeBron James
The NBA of today is unlike anything that we have seen over the course of history. This is in terms of both the on-court experience and the off-court friendships. It’s not like the players of old weren’t friendly with each other, but you hardly ever see them hanging out together.
This could also be due to the emergence of social media and new technology, but it has a different feel. There is still a level of competitiveness, and when they are on the court together it’s business. But at times, it can feel like friendliness can be an issue.
This has come to play between Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, and Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green. Green has been criticized multiple times for how he speaks about James, despite being a fierce on-court rival of his.
But it really all comes down to the level of respect that Green has for James as both a player and a person. He talked about it, and what makes James such a great player, even at his advanced age,
"When I talk about guys who have like a next-level basketball IQ, you talking LeBron James," Green said on the

. "The fact that he is that size and that athletic and with that basketball IQ, like, guys that size and that athletic, most of them are dumb as s--t.”

Some fans may not like it, but it’s just the reality of the league nowadays. Players are friends off the court and will do whatever they want to hang out with each other. It may seem weird to some, but it is kind of cool to see players hanging around each other.
"As far as us being as tight as we are, that's my big brother. Love him to death," Green told Paul George of James. "And ain't nothing changing that. Only thing changing is our relationship continues to grow."

With Green and James, they have formed a bond over their tough playoff battles, and it’s something that we should have respect for. There is enough hate out in the world, so we don’t need it between our athletes.
