Lakers News: Why Bronny James Avoided Game-Issued Shoes In McDonald's Showcase
Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James' son LeBron "Bronny" James Jr. took a bold step during the McDonald's All-American Game, for boys' and girls' prep basketball stars, earlier this week. Though he had a modest night, at least per scouts, he remains a top prospect amongst the class of 2023.
The younger James, who recently inked a lucrative NIL deal with Nike, is a senior at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, and just completed a successful final high school season.
According to Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson of Bally Sports, Bronny wore a pair of pink, unreleased LeBron 20 Nikes during the night's slam dunk contest.
That particular colorway of the LeBron 20s has yet to be released officially, but Bronny sure made it look cool.
His dad wore a fresh vintage of his signature shoes, the "1984" colorway, during LeBron's first game back to the floor following a one-month absence due to a right foot tendon tear. It may have been a 118-108 Crypto.com Arena home loss to the Chicago Bulls, but LeBron looked pretty good in his limited minutes off the Lakers' bench, scoring 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor.
