Lakers News: Why Experts Believe LA Can Play Spoiler In Postseason
Your Los Angeles Lakers are in the Western Conference's play-in picture (for now), and that could all change with one win or one loss. Let's hope for the latter, but point in case it's a tight race and the purple and gold are in the middle of it all.
From a 2-10 to start the season and the bleak prospect of missing the playoffs for the second straight year to being in the playoff picture and having a legit shot at heading straight to the playoffs and avoiding the play-in tournament. We're still a little ways from that, but LA is on a good pace to make it into the playoffs right now.
If the Lakers make the postseason, the Score's NBA senior writer Joesph Casciaro believes LA can not only play spoiler but why teams should fear the Lakers in the playoffs.
The video is six minutes long, but the gist was that the Lakers now have legit defense, legitimate NBA depth, and shooters and playmakers on the roster. The Lakers' roster before the NBA trade deadline was shaky at best. The pieces didn't fit and didn't complement the strengths of superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The Lakers overhauled the roster significantly and brought in Rui Hachimura, D'Angelo Russell, Mo Bamba, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley to help propel LA to the playoffs. Some thought it might've been too late to turn things around, but the Lakers are defying the odds.
This roster is like night and day compared to the pre-trade deadline roster, and they are a significantly better team. LA has been among the best defensive teams in the league since the trade, and as we all know, defense wins championships.
It's exciting and nerve-racking to be a Laker fan right now, but if they remain healthy, this Lakers team can do damage against any squad.
