Lakers News: Writer Projects Los Angeles’ Starting Five
The 2023-24 NBA season will be getting underway here soon, with training camp starting up in a matter of weeks. This is the time when players start to finalize things for the season, and excitement is everywhere.
Your Los Angeles Lakers enter the season ready to prove everyone wrong once again, and to finish business from last year. LA reached the Western Conference Finals a year ago but fell to the Denver Nuggets in a series that they believe they could have won.
Now, they enter the year revamped and restocked, ready to take claim at the title once again. Led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers should be one of the best teams in the league if they can remain healthy throughout the season.
Alberto De Roa of HoopsHype put together projected depth charts for every team, and they put together what they believe will be the LA starting lineup. They have James and Davis leading the way, and alongside them are Austin Reaves, Jarred Vanderbilt and D’Angelo Russell.
While this lineup makes sense, the Lakers could look to pair Davis with another big in the starting rotation. Possibly someone like Christian Wood or Jaxson Hayes could fill the center role, as Davis has been pretty adamant about not wanting to play center.
Either way, the Lakers have solid depth here to work with. Head coach Darvin Ham will have some tough choices to make, but it is a good problem for a coach to have.
LA comes in with a good chance to win the championship this season. They have put together a very strong roster that is built on continuity from last year, and upgrades around the edges. It all could result in them winning title 18 this season if things go their way. So, we should be in for another fun year of Lakers basketball.
