Lakers News: Special Guest With LeBron James Ties Visits LA At Practice Friday
The Los Angeles Lakers are back home after a grueling but successful six-game road trip. Los Angeles went 5-1 on their road trip, with their only loss coming against the Indiana Pacers last Friday. The Purple and Gold are back in their own bed and had the chance to practice on Friday to prepare for their Saturday contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
While it was business as usual in their practice, they had a very special guest attend the practice. Lakers superstar LeBron James' high school coach, Keith Dambrot, was in attendance to watch his former player and the Lakers practice.
ESPN's Dave McMenamin shared a photo of the visit via X:
Dambrot coached James in high school for his last two seasons at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. He led them to two consecutive state championships. The team was, understandably, nationally ranked.
For the past seven seasons, Dambrot has been the head coach at Duquesne. The 65-year-old helped lead the Dukes to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in more than 50 years this season. He guided them to a victory over the BYU Cougars but ultimately fell to Illinois in the round of 32. Dambrot retired after this season and handed the reigns to former professional basketball player and St. Vincent-St. Mary James teammate Dru Joyce.
The Lakers have five games remaining in their schedule and will look to win all five while hopefully escaping out of the ninth seed, the seed they've been in for the better part of a month.
LA will look for another deep playoff run.
