LeBron James' Son Bronny Compared to Magic Guard Gary Harris by Scout

USC Trojans guard Bronny James could declare for the 2024 NBA Draft, and his pro player comparison is an Orlando Magic veteran.

ORLANDO - USC Trojans guard Bronny James is contemplating whether to join his dad in the NBA this summer via the draft or to stay in college for another season.

In the past, the son of LeBron James has been drawn up as a possibility for the Orlando Magic with its first-round pick in this summer's NBA Draft. And that might be a decent fit for the Magic, because the younger James reminds The Athletic's John Hollinger of shooting guard Gary Harris.

"Hollinger noted Bronny’s strong frame and feel for the game as positives. But he also noted how the USC freshman, as all the stats and game film show, struggles to score consistently at any level right now," The Athletic writes. "Hollinger suggested that Bronny’s upside might eventually be akin to that of Gary Harris. Harris started two seasons at Michigan State before going 19th in the 2014 draft; he’s currently in his 11th season, a backup guard for the Orlando Magic, but has made almost $100 million in career earnings as a longtime starter."

Harris is a free agent at the end of the season, so drafting James to Orlando could give the Magic some familiarity.

Harris may not be the sexiest comparison, especially considering who Bronny's dad is, but it's one that should be honored. Harris has had a successful career in the NBA and doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Sure, the ceiling for Bronny will be higher because he will always be compared to his dad, but if he has a career like Harris, he shouldn't be disappointed.
