Lakers Ex Patrick Beverley Signs With Bulls After Magic Buyout
ORLANDO - An Orlando Magic castoff has a new home.
According to ESPN, the Chicago Bulls are signing Patrick Beverley after he was bought out by the Orlando Magic earlier this month.
In the trade on deadline day, the Magic sent center Mo Bamba to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for veteran point guard Patrick Beverley, a 2028 second-round pick and cash considerations.
However, according to the team, Beverley was "not required" to join the Magic and agreed to a buyout.
Beverley, 34, is set to hit free agency after his contract expires at season's end. He's averaging 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season. While the numbers aren't glowing, he provides energy and defense to any team he's been apart of, playing 11 seasons in the league with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Lakers.
Beverley is joining his hometown team as the Bulls fight for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Currently, the Bulls, Magic, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks are fighting for the final three play-in spots.
The Bulls and Magic are currently among the teams on the outside looking in, but are just a few games back of the 10th place Raptors.
