NBA Free Agency: Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks to Magic?

The Orlando Magic could improve their defense by signing Memphis Grizzlies wing Dillon Brooks.
In this story:

ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic will be making some upgrades during free agency this summer, and there's a specific need on the wing.

The team has Gary Harris at the shooting guard spot, but he's on the final year of his contract set to make $13 million. However, that money isn't guaranteed, so the Magic could find a player who makes less money with better value. Among those players is Dillon Brooks, who will be looking for a new team after reports said that the Memphis Grizzlies wouldn't re-sign him "under any circumstances."

Bleacher Report listed Brooks as an option for the Magic in free agency this summer.

"Brooks brings some defensive chops to this Magic team, one that finished 18th overall a season ago," Bleacher Report writes.

Even though Brooks' tenure with the Grizzlies ended poorly and in bad taste, he has the potential to be one of the best defensive wings in the NBA. Depending on the rest of the roster, Brooks could slot in as a starter next to Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero or a key reserve manning the second unit.

Offensively, Brooks is no pushover either. During his six seasons with the Grizzlies, he has averaged 14.5 points per game while shooting 34.5 percent from distance.

The league's free agency period kicks off June 30 at 6 p.m.
