NBA Standings Update: Magic Could Face Play-In Elimination vs. Pistons

The Orlando Magic may be kissing its slim postseason hopes goodbye on Sunday.

In this story:

ORLANDO - This is no April Fools' joke. It's April 1 and the Orlando Magic still has a chance to make the playoffs.

The odds are slimmer than slim, but they are nonzero ... at least for now.

Those odds could become zero on Sunday if two results don't go Orlando's way.

Should the Chicago Bulls beat the Memphis Grizzlies at home Sunday afternoon and the Magic fall to the NBA-worst Detroit Pistons later that evening, Orlando will be eliminated from playoff contention.

Granted, those two outcomes happening are slim, considering the Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the league and the Magic should take care of the Pistons at home, but the breathing room is shrinking for Orlando.

The "magic" number for Orlando sits at two. Any Bulls win or Magic loss shrinks the number. This means that the Magic needs to win at least four of its last five games while the Bulls need to lose at least that many.

Here's a look at the remaining schedules ...

Bulls: vs. Grizzlies (Sun.), vs. Hawks (Tue.), at Bucks (Wed.), @ Mavericks (Fri.), vs. Pistons (Sun.)

Magic: vs. Pistons (Sun.), vs. Cavs (Tue., Thu.), @ Nets (Fri.), @ Heat (Sun.)

The odds are tiny, but there's still a chance ...
