Orlando Magic Rookie Anthony Black Being Mentored by Cole Anthony

Anthony Black already has someone on the Magic to look to in order to figure out the ins and outs of this league.
In this story:

The Orlando Magic selected Anthony Black with the No. 6 overall pick in this past year's NBA Draft for his size and athleticism at the point guard position, as well as his excellent on-ball defense.

That, however, does not mean that he comes without his flaws. Black needs to work on his jump shot, especially his three-point shooting. But the Magic looked past these drawbacks, as the team thought that the rookie could work on these issues and become a consistent shooter.

One thing that can help Black immensely is having a mentor figure, or even just a teammate that he looks to for guidance. Cole Anthony seems to be taking that role before the rookie even plays his first regular season game. Black spoke more about what Anthony means to him and the team in an interview at Magic practice on Saturday.

"Cole is really good at playing at his own pace, especially when he gets to the paint," Black said. "In practice, he's been helping me a lot with that, along with the other guys. It's definitely easier playing with him, just because of his ability go score, make plays, and defend."

As this is Anthony's fourth year in the league, he is becoming a guy who rookies can look up to. Anthony and Black are two of the guards who make up a young and formidable backcourt, and if they can all help each other and make each other better, the Magic could really make some noise this season.

The Magic will be back in action on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans as the team looks to keep their perfect record in the preseason. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
