Orlando Magic Center Moe Wagner 'Letting The Game Come to Him'
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic has looked like one of the more impressive teams in the NBA, and big man Moe Wagner has played a big role in the turnaround.
Wagner was the leading scorer on either team in a 113-96 win over the Boston Celtics, who currently sit at the top of the Eastern Conference.
"Honestly, I'm trying to kind of let the game come to me," Wagner said. "Sometimes, it's a game it's not controllable you know. Sometimes it comes to you and you just take advantage of it. You don't really control that, and it's something very enjoyable about that process, to kind of get lost in that and just play. And it's gonna come back around."
The 26-year-old from Germany dropped 27 points and three rebounds in 24 minutes against the Celtics, helping to propel the Magic to the top of Group C for the In-Season Tournament. He shot 9 of 13 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free throw line in the win.
"That's what Moe been doing all year though," Paolo Banchero said.
This season, Wagner is averaging a career-high 12.6 points per game on a whopping 63.1 percent shooting from the field as well as 35.7 percent from three. He has been a valuable piece off the bench, especially with center Wendell Carter Jr. missing extended time due to a fracture in his left hand.
