Magic Survive, Defeat Bulls on the Road
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic escaped a late game run from the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Monday night.
A slow start from both clubs three-point effort led to a 49-44 game at the break, with Orlando and Chicago shooting a combined 2-23 (8.7 percent) over the first 24 minutes.
And the Bulls continued its recent struggles from long range through the second half.
The worst team from three over the past few weeks, continued to miss their first 16 attempts from beyond the arc - not making its first until late in the third quarter.
But despite these struggles, the Bulls did not go away late, cutting the led down to five with three minutes to go.
However, the Magic refused to lose back-to-back games late, holding on in the final minutes to walk away with the 100-91 victory.
Paolo Banchero led the way for Orlando with 24 points on 8 of 18 shooting followed by Franz Wagner (18 points on 7 of 8 shooting) and Markelle Fultz, who finished one assist shy of a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.
For Chicago, Zach LaVine (26), Demar Derozan (19), and former Magic center Nikola Vucevic (13 points and 13 rebounds) were the main contributors offensively in the home loss.
The Magic is back in action tomorrow night against the Toronto Raptors.
