Orlando Magic guard Trevelin Queen is set to play on a two-way deal this season.

The Orlando Magic got its season out to a hot start on Wednesday at Amway Center with a 116-86 win over the Houston Rockets. Coach Jamahl Mosley's squad left little doubt that they're a team to watch on the rise in the Eastern Conference.

But as the Magic enjoy a near-ideal start to the season after just one game, Orlando's G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic, are still waiting till its begins on Friday, Nov. 10 against the Mexico City Capitanes.

Joining Osceola on a two-way deal will be guard Trevelin Queen, who played with Orlando during the preseason. He shined in spurts during four preseason games, and has earned the praise from Mosley as a result.

"You know, obviously his basketball is as at a high level, he has a great basketball IQ," Mosley said. "He's tenacious defensively, you know, he can go score. But the other part about is that his willingness to go through adversity and not getting it right away, and being able to push through and that's the type of guys we have on this team guys that are willing to go through adversity, stay positive in it, and then find a solution.”

Queen averaged 9.3 points during the preseason, most of which came from his 24-point outing in Orlando‘s 109-76 win in the preseason finale against Flamengo.

He’s proven he can score and has some impressive athleticism. Queen being on a two-way deal might say more about the talent the Magic has acquired in recent seasons than it does about him.

Queen’s not in the rotation just yet, but Mosley’s praise is hardly some throwaway remark, especially since he mentioned that Queen’s ability to persist is something that flows through most of the roster. It will take some time in the G League, but don’t be surprised if he capitalizes when he gets his number called for Orlando.

The Magic take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
