Magic Coach Jamahl Mosley Commends Mavs' Kyrie Irving
Now the current head coach of the Orlando Magic, former professional player Jamahl Mosley has been around the league in many different positions.
Starting off as a player development coach for the Denver Nuggets, Mosley would become an assistant under George Karl before taking the same role in Cleveland for the Cavaliers, then in Dallas for the Mavericks.
During his four years in Cleveland (2010-2014), Mosley had the opportunity of coaching current Mavs star Kyrie Irving. Mosely cited Irving's work ethic as the main factor in his development as a player.
"Kyrie is probably one of the best finishers I’ve seen around the rim," Mosley said on the HoopsHype Podcast. "His ability to finish there and the skills he possesses with the ball. He worked at it. He could play one-on-one until the lights went off. He loved the game and hooping."
Just as then Miami Heat star Lebron James announced his return to Cleveland, Mosley was on his way out, taking a job with the Mavericks as an assistant. From there, Irving and James out lead the Cavaliers to their first ever championship in franchise history.
Mosley, now in a position to lead a young star to greatness, looks to do the same with his Magic players. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner have shown flashes of greatness, and just like with Irving, they very well could be stars soon with the correct development from the coaching staff.
The hope of all the Magic coaches is that they love the game as much as Kyrie did in the twilight of his career.
