NBA Trade Rumors: Raptors PG Fred VanVleet for Magic's Jalen Suggs?
ORLANDO - With the trade deadline clock counting down, longtime Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet's name continues to circulate in rumors.
And the Orlando Magic could be a potential suitor.
“A Fred VanVleet trade makes sense for the Magic as far as balancing their 3-point shooting and providing a veteran guard who can keep the offense organized while being a pest defensively," Action Network said.
A player connected to a potential deal is 2021 No. 5 pick and Magic guard Jalen Suggs who is still on his 4 year $29 million dollar rookie contract.
"It’s believed that former No. 5 overall pick Jalen Suggs could be part of a potential deal, but would require more from Toronto in compensation, given Suggs’ defensive capabilities and rookie contract," Moore added.
The Magic has been connected to VanVleet over the past few weeks as buyers for the 28-year-old guard who has spent the entirety of his six year career in Toronto.
"You're hearing a lot of murmurs about 'Hey, the Orlando Magic are willing to throw a lot of money his way this summer," Tim MacMahon said on the Hoop Collective Podcast.
VanVleet is veraging 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists in 46 games this season for Toronto, who sits at 25-30 this season and currently 11th in the Eastern Conference standings.
Heading into the final stretch of the trade deadline, it appears the guard is likely to moved somewhere according to DraftKings, who has VanVleet at -400 odds to be traded, but whether or not it will be Orlando is up in the air.
The NBA Trade Deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m.
