NBA Report Card: Magic Make The Grade at Halfway Point?

The trade deadline is fast approaching, which means that the first half of the regular season is almost over. With that being said, how has the Orlando Magic looked so far this year?

The Orlando Magic started off the season red-hot and was in the two-seed in the Eastern Conference, but the team has slowed down a bit since then.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report, they give a grade to each NBA team's first half of the season, and for the Magic, it gets a solid B. This isn't exactly what the team would want, as it's grade through the first quarter of the season was an A, but it could be worse.

"The Orlando Magic is still comfortably passing the 2023-24 course, but it has certainly come back to earth as of late," Bleacher Report writes. "Since the last report card, the team is 5-10. And while injuries have a lot to do with that, age and offensive inefficiency are certainly factors too."

The team is having a rough go at it with injuries right now, as a number of the team's biggest contributors have been sidelined as of late. Markelle Fultz and Wendell Carter Jr. have recently returned to the lineup and have immediately impacted the team.

The team is still without Franz Wagner, as the star forward has been out for the last six games with an ankle injury that he sustained against the Sacramento Kings. When the Magic gets him back, they are bound to improve. But until then, the team is going to have to get better at playing without some of its stars.

The Magic will be back in action tonight against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET in State Farm Arena.
