Magic SG Jalen Suggs 'Head of the Snake' on Defense, Says Cole Anthony
The Orlando Magic has been one of the better defensive teams in the entire NBA, and it has a couple of players that are some of the best in the league on that side of the ball.
Most notable among them is starting guard Jalen Suggs, as he has made many believe that he should qualify for one of the NBA's All-Defensive Teams. Magic teammate Cole Anthony said that Suggs is the leader on defense in his postgame interview after the team's recent win against the Charlotte Hornets.
"(Coach Jamahl) Mose has been saying it from the start that we’re going to be an elite defensive team and I think we keep improving on the defensive end. I mean, I just said it before, we’ve got the head of the snake in Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac," Anthony said. "I think, honestly, Jalen started it up. He got a few steals. I thought he was going to get like 10 steals. How many steals did he have? I thought he was going to get like 10, but you know we’ve just got some really, really good defenders on this team and we just have that willingness as a team to want to guard. That goes a long way."
Suggs finished the game with 16 points, six assists, and four rebounds, but it was his work on the defensive end that really made him a threat. He not only finished with three steals, but was also the Magic's leader in blocks with two.

HIs versatility on the defensive end has made Suggs a nightmare to play against for opposing guards. If he can keep up this effort in the rest of the regular season and the playoffs, then the Magic could be poised to surprise even more people with its play.
Suggs and the rest of the Magic will be back in action tonight against Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET from the Kia Center.
