Magic PG Cole Anthony: Jamahl Mosley Has Coach of the Year Case
The Orlando Magic has surprised a lot of people this season, and a lot of it comes as result of the coaching philosophy and direction of Jamahl Mosley.
The mark of 34 wins that the team finished with last season was surpassed in late February, as the Magic has continue to improve. Guard Cole Anthony thinks that these jumps are evidence that Mosley should be one of the prime candidates for NBA Coach of the Year.
"I know they don't look at the previous seasons, but you see the trajectory he’s going on," Anthony said. "We haven’t changed the roster much. He’s obviously gotten better as a coach too. He's learning, we're learning, and we're just going to keep improving."
Mosley has preached consistency with his roster, as the team has made only minor changes since he became the head coach. He believes that if these players stay together, then they will be much more likley to learn and grow together.
The Magic currently sits in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, just one game behind the injury-ridden New York Knicks. The team has won five of its last six games, and if it can keep that up, then it could be in prime position to make noise in the postseason.
Mosley and the rest of the Magic will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET from the Kia Center.
