Magic's Jamahl Mosley Praises Rockets SG Jalen Green
Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley is working with the USA Select Team as the top team gets ready for the FIBA World Cup, which begins Friday.
One of the players making an impression on the Select Team is Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green, who begins his third NBA season after being drafted No. 2 overall in the 2021 draft.
Managing director and Hall of Famer Grant Hill had high praise for Green following his performance in July. But his latest appreciation has come from coach Mosley, who raved about Green's ability to play off the ball.
"Him playing off the ball was good — coming off pindowns, coming off screens, keeping the defense honest on the backside movement," Mosley said via Kelly Iko of The Athletic. "I think he did a really good job of not chasing it, being able to find opportunities to create for his teammates. And whenever the ball did find his hands, he was a live go."
Green led the 22-60 Rockets in scoring last season, averaging a career-best 22.1 points on 41.6 percent shooting from the field, 3.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds across 76 games.
Once their run with the Select Team is over, Mosley will have an opportunity to gameplan against Green in the season opener between the Rockets and Magic on Oct. 25 at Amway Center.
