Orlando Magic Will 'Learn a Ton' From Latest Loss
The Orlando Magic may have seen some success to start the season, but the team isn't getting complacent.
Following the team's latest 117-102 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley revealed how the team plans to bounce back going forward.
"We're gonna learn a ton from this," Mosley said. "Like, how do you play with the lead? What do you do in those situations that you have to keep your foot on the gas the same way? You got to keep defending whether you're making you're missing shots, and I think that's a big lesson in this that we got to hang our hat on the defensive end of the floor."
Orlando is currently allowing the second-fewest points in the NBA to be scored against them at 105.4. However, offensively, the team still needs to improve in order to sustain its current playoff seeding throughout the season.
As of right now, the Magic are scoring the eighth fewest points per game in the league at 108.6 points per game. No matter how dominant Orlando's defense may be, the team's lack of scoring will keep them in jeopardy of blowing a lead like it did on Monday against the Mavericks.
Going forward, it will be crucial that Magic players keep their feet on the gas when it comes to scoring, regardless of how much the team may be up, in order to take opponents out of the game completely.
After finishing No. 13 in the Eastern Conference a year ago, the growing pains of developing a winning culture in a young locker room seem to be underway. Still, at least that means the organization is moving forward with a positive trajectory that could include a playoff birth this season.
