Orlando Magic Jamahl Mosley Explains His Quiet Offseason
Orlando Magic head coach Jamaal Mosley is going into his third season with the team. After missing the play-in by just a handful of games this past season, Mosley is taking what he feels is the best approach to this offseason.
On the HoopsHype Podcast, Mosley talked about how he wanted to take a similar approach to this offseason as some of the best coaches of this generation, namely Gregg Popovich, Erik Spoelstra, and Steve Kerr.
The thing that these coaches have in common is that for the majority of their careers, they have had a lot of the same core guys on their team. Instead of having a new roster every season, they stuck with their guys and grew together. Mosley talked more about this approach on the HoopsHype Podcast.
"The guys that were here before can relay that message to the guys coming in," Mosley said. "There’s a level of gratitude for how we kept it the same because these guys know what to expect, they know our voices, and they know what we’re good at. We’ll double down on it and where we need to improve."
Mosley seems to be sticking with and believing in the guys that he has. This allows for players to get more comfortable in their situation. It also creates a closer relationship between the players, and the coaching staff as well.
The Magic has a solid core group of young and talented guys that the coaching staff, especially Mosley, seems to be putting their trust into. This could lead to a tighter-knit group of guys and could lead to better chemistry on the court as a result.
