Orlando Magic Center Moe Wagner Has 'No Expectations' For Season?
ORLANDO - Orlando Magic forward Moe Wagner is getting ready for the season ahead, and he's laid out his expectations ... well, sort of.
"I don't really have expectations," Wagner said. "I'm very excited to come here every day. Enjoy this with the guys. It's a really cool environment. Really cool group. Doesn't feel like work at all. If you can say that about your day job when you're very blessed, so I'm very appreciative about that."
Wagner signed his third contract with the Magic this offseason for two years, $16 million. He originally found his way to Orlando after he was waived by the Boston Celtics during the 2020-21 season.
His NBA career began with the Los Angeles Lakers, who drafted him in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft with the No. 25 overall pick. Since he entered the league, Wagner has spent time on four teams in five seasons.
In his time with the Magic, Wagner is averaging 9.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 18.0 minutes per game. He is putting together some of the best play in his career as a key player off the bench.
He is the older brother of Franz Wagner, a forward for Orlando who was drafted with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2021 Draft. The younger Wagner brother looked like a budding star last season, averaging 18.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists along with 1.0 steals on 48.5 percent shooting from the field and 36.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
The Magic's season will begin at the Amway Center against the Houston Rockets on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
