Magic Must Have 'Higher Standard' Despite Win vs. Jazz

The Orlando Magic pulled out a win against the Utah Jazz, but they had an opportunity to play better.

ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic improved to 4-1 since the All-Star Break after a 115-107 win against the Utah Jazz at the Kia Center on Thursday night.

However, coach Jamahl Mosley felt the team had room for improvement after the victory.

“There’s a standard. We talk about [how] we got away with a win, but understanding we have to continue to hold ourselves to a higher standard," Mosley said. "15 turnovers for 25 points is not going to get it done and missing 10 free throws is not going to get it done and as we continue to grow and get better – which this team is – because they recognize that, we’ll continue to get better throughout that.”

The win came after a 27-point victory on Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, so it's understandable for Mosley to feel as if the Magic didn't play their best. Orlando is getting to the point to where the playoffs are becoming a very realistic possibility for them, so they need to play like they belong.

A win against the Jazz, although important, may not have happened against a superior opponent. With the final stretch of the season coming, they need to limit these mistakes that will almost certainly cost them against a team that they may see in a playoff series.

The Magic are back in action on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
