NBA Mock Draft: Magic Targeting Pair of Star Freshmen?

The Orlando Magic holds the No. 6 and No. 11 selections in this month's NBA Draft, could they target two one-and-done stars?

The Orlando Magic enters this year's NBA Draft in a unique situation.

Despite holding two lottery selections for the second time in three years, Orlando was one of the better teams in the NBA for the final 57 games of the year.

Posting a 29-28 mark while ranking sixth in defensive rating, the Magic nearly reached the Play-In tournament after a 5-20 start to the year.

However, as one of the youngest teams in the NBA, the roster is filled with pieces taken through the draft or trades from the past two years.

CBS Sports recently compiled a NBA Mock Draft that has Orlando taking two one-and-done starts in their own respect, starting with Kansas wing Gradey Dick at No. 6.

"Assuming the Magic aren't giving up on ball-handling guards Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs or Markelle Fultz any time soon, they are set at point guard," CBS Sports writes. "The need for Orlando is at shooting guard or on the wing, preferably in the form of a knockdown shooter. Dick checks that box with emphasis after shooting 40.3% from beyond the arc as a true freshman at Kansas."

And thanks to the 2021 trade that sent Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Wendell Carter Jr. and two first-round draft picks, Orlando also holds the No. 11 selection this year.

Despite Carter all but solidifying his role as the team's starting center, a midseason trade sent Mo Bamba to the Los Angeles Lakers. And with Moe Wagner also an unrestricted free agent this season, Orlando may target a potential replacement in Duke center Dereck Lively II.

"Mo Bamba isn't on this team anymore," CBS Sports writes. "Orlando needs an interior enforcer, and Lively fits the bill. He's limited offensively to the dunker's spot, but the Magic have other players who can score. They don't have anyone like Lively, a tower who blocked 2.4 shots per game in just 20.6 minutes per contest during his lone season at Duke."

The NBA Draft takes place Thursday, June 22 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
