BREAKING: Magic Selects Michigan SG Jett Howard With No. 11 Pick
The Orlando Magic's NBA Draft haul continues.
With the No. 11 pick, the Magic selected Michigan guard Jett Howard.
This follows its selection of University of Arkansas guard Anthony Black with the No. 6 pick.
"A projected 3-and-D prospect, Howard is extremely versatile on both ends of the floor," SI writes. "He’s got a good balance of size, defensive upside and shooting touch that should translate well at the next level. He’s really not an elite athlete but has an NBA build already."
After selecting a 6-7 guard earlier in the draft in Black, it's not surprising to see Orlando target Howard - a versatile two-way guard with knockdown shooting potential.
In his one-and-done career in Ann Arbor, Howard posted 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and two assists while shooting 36.8 percent from three on over seven attempts per game.
However, a big reason why Howard likely stood out is his ability to play off the ball. With facilitators in Markelle Fultz, Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, the rookie likely won't be tasked with creating offense and excel in the catch-and-shoot and defensive end.
The son of former NBA center Juwan Howard - who played for the Magic in 2004 - the 20-year-old joins an Orlando team who has not been shy selected former Wolverines in recent years - taking Caleb Houstan last year and Wagner in 2021.
The Magic is back on the clock with the No. 36 pick.
