Orlando Magic Will Have Chance to Show Growth on Upcoming Road Trip

The Orlando Magic's roster has stayed the same, but has improved over the course of the offseason, and the team will need to show that on this road trip.

The Orlando Magic started its season off in the best way possible on Wednesday. The team began its regular season with a commanding 30-point win over the Houston Rockets, and that is just the beginning.

Although it would be ideal to play all 82 games at home, the Magic will begin the first of many road trips on Friday as they will be away for the next three games.

As most NBA fans know, the key to a successful road game is not letting the opposing fans or players get to you and get into your head. With how young the Magic's roster is, that could be a little more tricky than it is for some other teams. It will start with limiting turnovers and adapting to defenses. Magic forward Franz Wagner talked more about this at practice on Tuesday.

"I think we just keep working on principles," Wagner said. "Take care of the basketball, and kind of see what the defense is doing. I think that's that's one thing we've gotten a lot better at is seeing what the other team is doing to us, and then kind of adjusting and communicating out there."

The Magic showed a lot of growth as a team in its first game of the season, as the Rockets never seemed to be a challenge for the young Magic roster. Everyone seemed to be getting involved in the offense, as the Magic had six players that scored in double figures.

The Magic will get its first chance to show what the team can do away from Orlando, as the first game of the road trip will be on Friday against the new-look Portland Trail Blazers. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. from the Moda Center.
