NBA Trade Rumors: Magic Deals for O.G. Anunoby 'Speeds Up Timeline?'

The Orlando Magic can't keep all of their assets, so who would they give up in a proposed trade for Toronto Raptors guard O.G. Anunoby?

As the Orlando Magic continues to add young players, one thing is becoming clearer with each move.

Orlando won't be able to keep everyone.

At some point, Orlando will have to move one or multiple young players to get an established veteran or accumulate more draft picks.

In a trade proposed by Bleacher Report, the Magic acquires OG Anunoby and Otto Porter Jr. from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Jonathan Isaac, Jalen Suggs, and Denver's 2025 first-round pick (top-three protection).

"Anunoby doesn't quite bring the ball skills the half-court offense lacks, but he is five-position defense and semi-reliable three-point shooting tucked neatly into one, 6'7" package," Bleacher Report writes.

Anunoby is the headliner in this proposed trade. The 6-7 forward averaged 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds plus nearly two assists and two steals per game.

An area of Anunoby's game where he would greatly improve the Magic is his 3-point shooting. The six-year vet has shot at least 37 percent from beyond the 3-point line in five seasons. Last season, Anunoby shot 38.7 percent, which would have been second only to Gary Harris among players who appeared in at least 40 games for the Magic.

Suggs has shown flashes through two years with the Magic but has struggled to stay on the court, playing in 101 of 164 games. Injuries have also riddled Isaac's career with Orlando.

Where a trade for Anunoby could be tricky is his fit with Orlando. The Magic's young roster has a plethora of bigger guards and forwards, including Anthony Black and Jett Howard.

While time will only tell what Black's offensive ceiling is, he's the same height and capable of defending the same positions as Anunoby. While having defensive versatility is imperative, Orlando needs to avoid redundancy.

Trading for Anunoby would give the Magic a proven player that can elevate them to a potential playoff team. While the fit could be questionable, Anunoby could be exactly what the Magic need if he's used correctly.
