Magic's Paolo Banchero Benefitting From USA FIBA Bid
Orlando Magic reigning Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero is getting ready to represent the United States at the FIBA World Cup next month.
ESPN analyst Zach Lowe believes his experience with playing on the national team should help him improve his game.
"I'm interested to seeing how he adapts in this environment to other great scorers," Lowe said. "I think we're going to see the full breath of his game come out as a screener, a passer, a rebounder. And probably his defense too will be lifted up by the competition around him ... He's going to be a really great all-around player."
Team USA provides plenty of opportunity to grow as a player, and that's not just by competing in the FIBA World Cup. The team enters a training camp in the early stages of August, and the team picks up high level practices, and even competes with the Team USA Select squad.
It's hard for NBA players to emulate high level basketball in the summer, but playing in the World Cup will give Banchero and the rest of the squad a chance to compete in real, meaningful basketball games.
The FIBA World Cup runs from August 25 until September 10.
