Orlando Magic PG Markelle Fultz Holding 'Feet to the Fire'

"I think it just being accountable, coming to work every day, you know, trying to get a little bit better every day. And I think the biggest thing, like I said, it's holding each other feet to the fire," Orlando Magic guard Markelle Fultz said.

ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic wants to take the next step as a team this season.

There are a number of ways in which this group can develop, as many players are beginning to hit their strides as players in their prime or becoming rising young stars in the league.

For Markelle Fultz, he can be a little bit of both. At 25, Fultz is still young but he's establishing himself as a leader vying for a contract to become Orlando's long-term point guard of the future.

Fultz has a plan for how he is going to establish his leadership with the Magic this season.

"I think it just being accountable, coming to work every day, you know, trying to get a little bit better every day. And I think the biggest thing, like I said, it's holding each other feet to the fire," Fultz said.

Accountability was a common theme among several players' answers on Media Day, and it appears the whole team is on the same page in this department. There is a tight-knit group in Orlando, many of whom have played together for multiple seasons.

With the continuity in the roster comes camaraderie, and the team has built a lot over the years. The Magic hopes that the camaraderie can create a safe space to hold teammates accountable so there can be as easy of a path towards fixing mistakes and errors as the season goes on.

This could give Orlando, a team that had a quiet offseason, an advantage over those who made drastic changes to personnel in the last few months.
