Magic Top Rookies Sit in Blowout Loss vs. Blazers

Anthony Black and Jett Howard didn't play, and the Orlando Magic missed their presence in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
In this story:

The Orlando Magic (0-4) swung and missed for a fourth time at the Las Vegas Summer League in a 88-71 blowout loss to the Portland Trail Blazers (3-1).

Without No. 6 pick Anthony Black and No. 11 pick Jett Howard, the Magic struggled out the gates and trailed by double digits early in the first quarter. Orlando managed to score just seven points in the second quarter and trailed 45-19, making the hole too deep for the Magic to dig out of.

Texas A&M guard Dexter Dennis led all Magic scorers with 16, while NBA veterans D.J. Wilson and Quinndary Weatherspoon also finished in double figures.

Filipino fan favorite Kai Sotto also made his Summer League debut, scoring six points in 13 minutes.

The Blazers were led by Michael Devoe, who scored 18 points for Portland.

It's hard to imagine any of the players who suited up for the Magic tonight to have any impact on the NBA roster this upcoming season, but it's possible for some to be in play for a chance to make the G League team in Osceola.

The Magic will have one last chance to grab a win in Las Vegas sometime this weekend in its consolation game.
