ORLANDO - Orlando Magic rookie Jett Howard has shown flashes of being an offensive weapon, most recently in an exhibition game against Brazilian club Flamengo

Howard shot 7-of-14 from the field and recorded 21 points, three rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes of action. He also made five threes on nine attempts, showing off some of the sharpshooting ability that the Magic drafted him for.

After the game, Howard spoke about his performance in the game and how he felt.

“I mean, I’m pretty confident and my teammates do a good job of just getting me open, finding those windows; Ant, C-Hou, and all of those guys just looking over the defense and finding me" Howard said. "I’m pretty confident when they do that.”

The 28 minutes that Howard played were by far the most that he has played all preseason. In the three other preseason games, he logged 12, 15 and 15, respectively.

“It was great," Howard said about playing more minutes. "I mean, any minutes to kind of get your feet wet and get you more comfortable. I felt pretty comfortable in my first two games too. It was a blessing.”

Orlando drafted Howard out of Michigan with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He was considered to be one of the best shooting prospects in the draft after he shot 36.8 percent from three on 7.3 attempts per game in college. The Magic also drafted Anthony Black out of Arkansas with the No.6 overall pick.

Orlando and Howard will open the regular season at home at the Amway Center against the Houston Rockets on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
