ORLANDO - The injury bug has once again bitten the Orlando Magic.

Franz Wagner, who has been arguably the team's best player this season, suffered a right ankle injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday night's game against the Miami Heat.

Wagner did not return to the game and will undergo further evaluation.

Before Saturday night's game, Wagner was averaging 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 37.3 percent from beyond the three-point line.

“He’s about winning,” Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley said of Wagner earlier in the season. “He’s one of the most competitive guys I’ve been around. Add that to the basketball IQ on top of that, that’s what makes him special.”

Wagner has also been very healthy throughout the course of his two-year career. He missed just three games last season with an injury and just one game this season due to suspension.

It's uncertain how much time Wagner will miss, if any, but should he sit out, Jalen Suggs and Bol Bol are candidates to move into the starting lineup in his place.

The Magic play its next game Tuesday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
