BREAKING: Magic Sign Old Friend Michael Carter-Williams to New Deal
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic is bringing back a familiar face.
According to The Athletic, the team is signing point guard Michael Carter-Williams to a two-year contract with a team option for next season.
Carter-Williams, 31, played with the Magic from 2019-22, but sat out all of last season after undergoing ankle surgery.
In 88 games with the Magic, Carter-Williams averaged 7.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
By bringing Carter-Williams into the fold, the Magic adds another veteran and someone familiar with many currently on the team. He's also now the oldest member of the team after Terrence Ross was bought out and subsequently signed with Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns.
Now, Orlando has officially filled its 15th and final spot on the roster after the trade deadline vacated some places on the team.
Before coming to the Magic, Carter-Williams was the 2013-14 NBA Rookie of the Year, but has yet to reach that same level of play beyond his first season in the league.
Now, he's coming to the Magic for a chance to be part of the team in the stretch run while providing veteran experience and guard depth behind Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs and Kevon Harris.
