Orlando Magic Star Paolo Banchero 'Makes Others Better'
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic is recovering after a 129-101 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night.
Despite the defeat, Paolo Banchero put together a strong all-around performance in the game, going 6-of-15 from the field for 19 points while adding in 10 rebounds and eight assists.
Coach Jamahl Mosley spoke about the performance of his budding star forward after the game.
"We've said it time and time again, his ability to make others better, his fight to win, just making the quick decisions, the easy decisions, the right decisions, that's why the ball is in his hand a ton, trying to find the right play and working on playing off of each other," Mosley said.
The 21-year-old power forward currently leads the Magic in assists, averaging 4.9 per game this season. He has taken on a more ball-dominant role in the offense in his second year after immediately being a good offensive player in his rookie year.
Pretty much all of Banchero's averages have stayed the same from his rookie season as he is averaging the same amount of rebounds and 0.5 less points. The biggest improvements have been in assists and shooting. He is shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 44.3 percent from three, both large improvements over his numbers last year (42.7 and 29.8, respectively).
Magic to Be Tested By 'Tough Schedule'
The Magic is off for a few days, but the team will return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when it takes on the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road.
