Magic PG Markelle Fultz Taking Slow Approach to Return From Injury

Markelle Fultz could be a key contributor for the Orlando Magic after coming back from his injury, but the team is not going to rush the point guard's return.

Orlando Magic point guard Markelle Fultz is finally returning from his injury, and the team will be glad to have him back. But despite that, the Magic will want to ease him back into action.

The seventh-year guard out of Washington has been out for the last 27 games with a knee injury. Until Fultz got injured, he was the starting point guard for the Magic, and was a key contributor for the team. But even though the team wants him back desperately, he will most likely be on a minutes restriction for the time being.

"I think obviously with our training staff and Coach Mose (Jamahl Mosley), we’re playing it cautiously," Fultz said after Sunday's game against the Hawks. "I’m on minutes restriction right now and again, worry about the long haul here. Especially for myself and with the organization. Again, all I care about is contributing to this team. Helping them win. Whether that’s two minutes, whether that’s 20 minutes, whether that’s 30 minutes, I’m going to do everything in my power to just help my teammates and try to contribute to the win."

After Fultz was drafted with the first pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, most thought that his career would end prematurely because of some inconsistent play and a lot of injuries. But now, with the Magic, it looks like he has turned his career around, and he could be a big part of what the Magic does for the rest of the season.

Fultz and the rest of the Magic will be back in action tonight against Anthony Edwards and the top-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET in the Kia Center.
