ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic could be the next team in the market for an All Star point guard

NBA Analysis Network spoke with an NBA executive that told the outlet that Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young may request a trade if things get worse for the Eastern Conference's eighth place team ... and the Magic could be a candidate to acquire him.

"If the Hawks’ situation worsens and they start thinking about shaking things up, the Magic are a team that would make lots of sense for Trae Young," NBA Analysis Network said. "They need a guard to run things through that can elevate the offense and it’s hard to imagine the market being super hot for a small guard. They have extra assets to trade and some intriguing young players that maybe Atlanta would want. The market may not be super hot for a smaller guard."

Following a 41-31 campaign a season ago, Atlanta went into the year with immense expectations after trading for All Star guard Dejounte Murray.

But the Hawks have not lived up to expectations through 50 games; bouncing around the NBA's Play In spots for the entirety of the season.

And due to this, Young's efficiency has been impacted posting career-lows in three-point percentage (.321) and rebounds (2.9).

However, a career average of 25.5 points and 9.2 assists would plug in some instant offense for the Magic, a team playing above .500 basketball over the past two months.

"Bringing in a dynamic guard such as Young is something that could help elevate this roster to the next level," NBA Analysis Network said. "They have used a lot of resources on finding a point guard in recent years, but none have gotten close to the level that Young has shown capable of achieving."

While trading Young isn't likely ahead of Thursday's deadline, if the Hawks are coy and decide to sit back, it could be another domino in Young's downfall in Atlanta that the Magic can pick up in a deal down the line.
