NBA Trade Rumors: 76ers' Tobias Harris Leaving Philly; Magic Return?
The Orlando Magic has the potential to build a good squad around former No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero and recent No. 6 pick Anthony Black.
With Joe Ingles bringing a veteran presence and floor spacing, the two will be able to further develop, and a playoff appearance could be on the horizon for the Magic.
Would it make sense for the Magic to acquire Tobias Harris from the Philadelphia 76ers? Harris has discussed the potential of being traded to NBC Sports Philadelphia.
"Casual Sixers fans, they'll trade me for a Crumbl cookie," Harris said.
Bleacher Report mocked a trade that would send Jonathan Isaac, Gary Harris, Chuma Okeke and a 2029 protected first-round pick in return for Harris, who played with the Magic from 2013-16.
For the Magic, sending the mocked players to Philadelphia wouldn't hurt the team. Orlando moves away from the Isaac saga and he, along with the other two players, would be put in a position to compete for a championship.
Harris joining the Magic would put him into a versatile role. He would play the forward position alongside Banchero, but would also split minutes and play the power forward position alongside the bench unit. Harris is capable of doing both, too. The Magic would also receive a future, valuable first-round pick in return, which makes sense given they are consuming plenty of cap space.
The Magic would get a short-term fix to help build out their long-term competing plan. He and Ingles would play a key role in establishing a culture and helping the team compete now.
In this case, the 76ers get a shot at revitalizing Isaac's injury-riddled career. He was developing into a premier defender in the NBA, and his offensive game was slowly coming together. He would be able to play off Joel Embiid and give the 76ers a stopper when the playoffs come around. Of course, his injury history is a gamble, but the 76ers will have to take risks if they want to win a championship.
The 76ers would definitely improve defensively from this move and Gary Harris would provide even more floor spacing for their team.
