NBA Draft Lottery: Magic Best Fit For Wembanyama?

The Orlando Magic enter the NBA Draft Lottery with a nine percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick and French superstar Victor Wembanyama.

On Tuesday, the NBA will hold its most highly anticipated Draft Lottery in recent memory.

And while the talent certainly doesn't end at No. 1, every team across the league is hoping they're the lucky ones to land French superstar Victor Wembanyama.

For the Orlando Magic, who was awarded the top overall selection last season, enter the Wembanyama sweepstakes with a nine percent chance of drafting first in back-to-back years.

But as the league has seen in recent years, where a player gets drafted plays a big role on their development and whether or not they live up to the hype of being a top pick.

According to CBS Sports, Orlando ranks as the third-best fit across the league for Wembanyama, just below the New Orleans Pelicans (0.5 percent) and San Antonio Spurs (14 percent).

"The Magic are intriguing with their young, improving team: Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr. and Markelle Fultz," CBS Sports writes. "The Magic were 34-48 this season under second-year coach Jamahl Mosley, a 12-win improvement over 2021-22. Wembanyama makes the Magic something more than just the No. 8 seed."

At just 19, Wemabanyama currently leads the LNB Pro A league, a top-eight basketball league in the world, in points, rebounds and blocks.

If he were to get drafted by the Magic, center Wendell Carter Jr. would likely get shifted to a bench role, thus creating a starting lineup of Fultz, Gary Harris, Banchero, Wagner and Wembanyama.

Whether or not Orlando lands the top selection, there is no denying whoever does will be receiving a generational talent.
