Magic Big Man Wendell Carter Jr.'s Trade Value at 'All-Time High'; Deal Coming?

Wendell Carter Jr. averaged 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this past season with the Orlando Magic. Could he be in trade conversations this summer?
In this story:

ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic roster is in flux going into a critical offseason. The Magic hopes it can make improvements to the roster in order to return to the postseason for the first time since 2020.

With two first-round picks, the Magic has ample opportunity to add value. The Magic could take two promising rookies with the picks, but in a more likely scenario, the team can package one or both of these picks, along with a player or two to land a true star. Among the players that could be attached in a trade is Wendell Carter Jr.

Carter Jr., 24, averaged 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this past season with the Magic, and he still has three years left on his deal making roughly $36 million. That's why Bleacher Report believes he has some of the best value among all of Orlando's rostered players.

"The Wendell Carter Jr. extension from a few years ago ... incredible value," Bleacher Report said. "You could look at that contract is so valuable, his trade value is at an all-time high."

The reasons to trade Carter are the same reasons to keep him. He is emerging into a key piece for the Magic moving forward and has been a nice complement for Paolo Banchero in the frontcourt.

If Orlando wanted to combine some assets to acquire a superstar, Carter may be in discussions, but it will take a lot for the Magic to say goodbye to one of its best players.
