NBA Trade Rumors: Magic Get Spurs' Doug McDermott?
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic are just a few days away from the NBA Trade Deadline and could use another shooter or two.
The team ranks 28th in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage and could use a boost if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.
ClutchPoints is reporting that the team could be looking at San Antonio Spurs sharpshooter Doug McDermott.
“McDermott has always been a steady three-point shooter that could wind up being a sneaky buy for any contending team at the deadline," ClutchPoints wrote. "Keep tabs on the Timberwolves, Rockets, 76ers, and Magic as teams who could benefit from adding a shooter off the ball.”
McDermott, 32, is averaging 6.1 points per game for the Spurs this season while playing 15.3 minutes per game.
The Spurs will certainly listen to offers on McDermott, and if they don't find one they like, San Antonio could certainly negotiate a buyout with him. McDermott is making $13.75 million this season, which could behoove teams not to trade for him. That being said, the Magic make a lot of sense as McDermott's next destination.
Magic 'Most Likely' to Trade Harris?
A trade featuring a matching salary and a future second-round pick would be worth it for the Spurs if they can get some kind of value for McDermott before he likely walks away in free agency to go sign elsewhere.
The NBA Trade Deadline is set for Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
