The Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs opened the 2023-24 season with a fun game on Oct. 23, where Luka Doncic and company came away with an entertaining 126-119 win over rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama.

On Saturday, Wembanyama was supposed to make his Dallas debut as Doncic also made his return from a one-game absence due to a thigh injury, but he was ruled out after stepping on a ball boy's foot in warm-ups and tweaking his ankle.

Although the Spurs are the second-worst team in the league with a 4-23 record, the Mavs will take any additional breaks they can get while currently riding a three-game losing skid. The second duel between Doncic and Wembanyama will have to wait for another day.
