NBA Rumor: Could Mavs Acquire Buddy Hield in 3-Way Trade with Pacers, Raptors?

The Dallas Mavericks have been linked to Buddy Hield in trade rumors before, and now another one has surfaced less than a week before the NBA Draft.

As NBA trade rumors heat up ahead of next week’s draft, it’s important to take them with a grain of talk until actual talks between teams start progressing.

The Dallas Mavericks have been linked to several players in trade rumors over the last month or so, including Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, Phoenix Suns’ Deandre Ayton and Atlanta Hawks big men John Collins and Clint Capela.

On Saturday, another rumor surfaced, this time linking the Mavs to Indiana Pacers shooting guard Buddy Hield via a potential three-team trade with Dallas, Indiana and the Toronto Raptors. However, there are some issues with this one.

“The Pacers, Raptors, and Mavs could engage in a three-team deal that would send OG Anunoby to Indiana, multiple first-round picks that would include the No. 7 overall pick to Toronto, and Buddy Hield to Dallas,” Hoops Habit’s Jake Weinbach tweeted. “Toronto is actively exploring options to move up in the draft.“

Although the Mavs are likely in several trade talks involving their No. 10 pick in next week’s draft, it’s hard to believe they’d part with that pick for a player like Hield given that their self-proclaimed biggest needs are defense and rebounding. If the “multiple first-round picks” going to Toronto would all be coming from Indiana for O.G. Anunoby, then we could see the Mavs being interested in Hield. A straight-up swap for Tim Hardaway Jr. in an expanded trade could make some sense.

This isn’t something that warrants too much attention for now, but it’s something we’ll be keeping an eye on regardless. In the meantime, the NBA world will be on the edge of their seats waiting to see where Bradley Beal and other big-name players could be traded to next.
