DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks have been linked to a number of NBA buyout targets in recent days, but Justin Holiday is the guy as he completes a buyout with the Houston Rockets.

Holiday is an NBA journeyman to be sure, and that has been the case throughout his 10-year career, as he's played for eight different teams. The soon-to-be 34-year-old has career averages of 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game on 39.8 percent shooting from the field, including 36.4 percent from deep.

This year for the Atlanta Hawks (before his inclusion in the deadline deal to the Rockets) he ended up making just 28 appearances while averaging 4.5 points in 14.7 minutes per game.

Some of the best games of Holiday's career have come against the Mavs, including his career-high 30 points on March 7, 2019 when he was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Although the dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving gives the Mavs a chance to beat any team on any given night, adding wing depth was noted by GM Nico Harrison as a priority in this process.

Holiday is in the final year of his deal and is making $6.2 million for the 2022-23 season.
