‘Disrespect!’ Christian Wood Vows to Use Mavs Trade Rumors as Motivation

Following the trade deadline, Christian Wood took to Twitter to voice his feelings about remaining in Dallas.
In this story:

DALLAS - After the Dallas Mavericks acquired eight-time All-Star Kyrie Irving on Sunday in a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, word had it Dallas wasn't done making moves.

Well, the trade deadline has come and gone with the Mavs standing pat after the Irving deal.

So, they are holding onto Christian Wood

Following the deadline passing, Wood took to Twitter to clap back at those who wanted him to be traded.

The tweet speaks to numerous fans having called for Wood - who is on an expiring contract - to be traded … due to the fear of losing an asset for nothing as the Mavericks did last offseason with Jalen Brunson.

On Tuesday, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that the Mavericks were shopping both Wood and Tim Hardaway Jr. following the Irving trade.

Wood followed up his first tweet with a second one, speaking to the 'disrespect' of people on Twitter hoping for him to be traded and 'using it as motivation'.

Though the Mavs reportedly shopped Wood, the big man has played well for Dallas and has built a pretty strong chemistry with Luka Doncic on the floor. Having Wood as a possible third option next to Doncic and Irving gives the Mavericks an offense that's likely going to be tough to slow down.

A motivated Wood, who wanted to remain in Dallas, is promising for the Mavericks heading into the second half of the season, as Dallas not only has high hopes for another long playoff run but Wood's hopes for a substantial new contract this coming summer.
