Mavs' Daniel Gafford Passes Wilt Chamberlain for 2nd on Consecutive Field Goals Made List

NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain held the first and second-place records for most consecutive field goals made going into Wednesday night, but now Dallas Mavericks big man Daniel Gafford has taken over the second-place record.

Dallas Mavericks big man Daniel Gafford might just mess around and never miss a shot again with how he's playing around the basket lately.

In a 109-99 win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, Gafford finished with 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and seven blocks while shooting 5-5 from the field in 26 minutes as a starter. With another perfect shooting game under his belt, Gafford ran his streak of consecutive made field goals to 33, passing NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain's all-time second-place record of 32 set in 1967.

Chamberlain also holds the overall all-time record of 35 consecutive field goals made, which was also set back in 1967. So if Gafford can manage to start the Mavs' matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday by making his first three baskets, he will be the new all-time leader for consecutive made field goals.

“If I do it, that’s good. I’m gonna celebrate it of course, but at the end of the day I just want to come out and win games," Gafford said.

After beating Golden State, Dallas is now riding a four-game winning streak heading into a tough second night of a back-to-back against the top team in the West in Oklahoma City. Although the Mavs are at a rest disadvantage, their hope is that better shooting from deep and less turnovers can help them push through and earn another victory. Dallas shot just 22.2 percent from deep against Golden State and committed 17 turnovers.
