Former Dallas Mavericks point guard Spencer Dinwiddie sees Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James being one championship away from potentially closing the door on the debate for best NBA player of all time.

Dinwiddie -- who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets -- sat down with Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks to discuss household names and expound on his James take:

Dinwiddie has played against James since he came into the NBA in 2014. He showed respect to James as a competitor and put his resume up against all other Hall of Fame greats of his ilk.

Chiefly pitted against Michael Jordan, James owns a bevy of records that give him a strong argument for 'G.O.A.T' status. The NBA 75th Anniversary Team member owns the all-time scoring record with 38,450 career points. He also bears the most All-Star selections as a 19-time honoree.

While Jordan achieved an NBA record 10 scoring titles and a Defensive Player of the Year award along with an undefeated 6-0 Finals record and six Finals MVP's in 15 seasons, James' longevity and all-around production puts him in the conversation. A fifth championship would narrow the gap between he and Jordan.

Additionally, Dinwiddie asserted that cultural icons such as Stephen Curry and Mount Rushmore-caliber legends the likes of James and Kobe Bryant are the only players that remain perpetual topics of daily conversation.

He did so while commending Portland Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard for staying in Portland despite external pressure to jump ship and pursue a championship elsewhere.
