NBA Free Agency: 3-Way Trade with Mavs’ Kyrie Irving, 76ers’ James Harden Possible?
As the Dallas Mavericks prepare for a hectic NBA free-agency period, all eyes will be on what happens with star point guard Kyrie Irving, Philadelphia 76ers’ James Harden and others.
Multiple reports state that Harden and the 76ers are working on a trade after he opted into his $35 million player option for the 2023-24 season, and the Los Angeles Clippers are apparently his preferred destination.
Given that ESPN’s Brian Windhorst floated the idea of Irving and the 76ers potentially having mutual interest amid Harden’s exit, could a three-team trade between the Mavs, Clippers and 76ers be feasible? Here’s what we have in mind:
Mavs receive: Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris
76ers receive: Kyrie Irving, Marcus Morris Sr., Nicolas Batum
Clippers receive: James Harden
Tobias Harris has been in trade rumors for a while now, and the 76ers reportedly aren’t going to offer Tyrese Maxey a contract extension at this time. So, if Irving does end up wanting to leave the Mavs, and Harden is insistent on choosing the Clippers as his next destination, this could be one of the better opportunities to take advantage of for Dallas.
A lot has to happen for these three teams to find themselves at this point, but the NBA’s free-agency period is always a fluid situation, and you never know what can materialize when stars want to be moved.
