Dallas Mavs Full Highlights: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving Score 53 Points Combined in Loss vs. Toronto Raptors

Watch the full highlights from the Mavs' loss against the Raptors on Wednesday, including the top plays from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

DALLAS — After winning both parts of a back-to-back in their previous games, the Dallas Mavericks returned to action with a 127-116 loss against the Toronto Raptors. As a result, the Mavs' record has fallen to 6-2 through eight games.

Despite entering Wednesday's game with the NBA's best second-half scoring differential, the Mavs could not overcome a 62-58 halftime deficit. Instead, they were outscored after the break by a seven-point margin.

Luka Doncic finished with 31 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and four steals but struggled with his efficiency. Kyrie Irving added 22 points, four rebounds, and five assists. The Mavs had two other double-figure scorers, with Tim Hardaway Jr. scoring 17 points and Derrick Jones Jr. contributing 15.

A consistent problem for the Mavs has been their lack of interior defensive execution. Dallas gave up 72 points in the paint, getting outscored by a 32-point margin in the category. Dallas admits to needing to be better in this category going forward.

"You have to give Toronto credit; they were aggressive," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said. "Again, understanding protecting the paint — they drove the ball, they dominated the glass, and we have to do a better job as coaches and players."

The Mavs struggled to execute in other key phases of the game, including turning it over 15 times and giving up 14 points off turnovers. Struggling to contain the opposition in the paint and turning it over often proved challenging to overcome with uncharacteristically inefficient second-half results from their superstars.

The Mavs complete their two-game homestand on Friday when they take on the Los Angeles Clippers at American Airlines Center. The team will head on the road for a four-game trip afterward, starting with two games against the New Orleans Pelicans.
